Here's how to give a paid subscription to the Windows Secrets Newsletter to a friend, family member, or colleague as a gift:
Step 1. You must have the permission of the person who'll be receiving the subscription, because you'll be sending it to his or her email address.
Step 2. Go to WindowsSecrets.com and get a free subscription for a spare email address that you can access. (You might consider opening a "dummy" account on Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, or any of the other free internet mail services for this purpose.)
Step 3. During the subscription process, upgrade the free subscription to a paid one. Your payment counts as a "double opt-in," which confirms your new subscription.
Step 4. After paying, go back to your
"preferences page. Change the primary delivery address from your email address (or the "dummy" address) to the address of your gift recipient.
Step 5. On the preferences page, click the check box to re-send the current issue of the newsletter to the primary delivery address, then click the Continue button.
